A satisfying finishing touch!

A rather awkward space to paint at the top of the landing, but still great fun! Fortunately, I could reach some of the lower flowers from the stairs.
As you can see, the bannisters here are also in the middle of being painted.

A brilliant exhibition by Liberty Fabrics ! Sharing lots from their archive. Some artworks for shawls from 1850 and tiles by William De Morgan & William Morris!!
It's fascinating to see their hand drawn repeats up close. The variety of media and process. Their notes for dyes and print blocks; the paper used. Areas of the designs that were reworked and then collaged back onto the original piece (see no.4). And the colour!!

A trip to Florence starting to appear in the sketchbook I made! It's a concertina book with several sheets of lasagna for pages.

A trip to one of my favourite places, Brighton Pavilion! It is amazing how much more you see with every visit.
This mural in the long gallery is one of my favourites. I love the tonal colourway and energy in the approach. The painting is so unfussy and loose. Varying levels of finer details are so well balanced across each plant and the overall shapes connect perfectly to the space. Minimal use of the lightest tone to add that extra highlight is very effective, too.
I was particularly interested in studying how this mural travelled up the stairs on this visit. Some Chinoiseries create a waving step in the ground. I like the variation here. A mixture of shallow ground, rocks and low vegetation. Lots of inspiration for the next stage of the hall mural!
